This was not the first time director Haranath Chakraborty was shooting a love story but this was indeed the first time he saw an affair blooming on the sets with so much fervour. Gourab Roy Chowdhary, who has made a mark on the small screen in the serial Tomay Amay Miley is playing the lead in Amar Prem. Apparently, Megha Chowdhury, who plays the second lead in the film was completely smitten by his simplicity and good looks.
Gourab also played to the gallery. Apparently he arranged a candlelight dinner exclusively for her while they were shooting in North Bengal. When the cast and crew would often sit together and relax after a hard day of shooting Megha and Gourab almost always disappeared, to where, no one knew.
It was on one such occasion when they were doing a vanishing act that Haranath Chakraborty got the shock of his life. “We were shooting in Bolpur and Megha and Gourab had as usual vanished. When they came back it was quite late and they didn’t really think they would bump into me. They looked at me like school kids when I behaved like their strict teacher and asked them where they had gone. Gourab promptly said that someone had told him there were some ghost sightings near Khowai and they had gone to check it out for themselves. The whole unit had not laughed so much in a long time,” said Haranath Chakraborty.
